Dickinson Softball 1988

This 1988 softball photograph shows Caryn Caputo sliding safely into home plate in a losing effort against Gettysburg College.  Caputo was the team's pitcher.  The Dickinson College Softball Team played Gettysburg that day on Moreland Field, which was the home of Dickinson Softball until the new Dickinson Park fields went into use in 1995.

Caryn's team-mates for the 1987-1988 team were:  Sylvia Bain, Emily Cox, Wendy Fleschutz, Stacy Fresch, Suzanne Fuller, Sue Hirshfield, Oahn Ma, Tina Plumer, Michelle Wright and Hillary Woodruff.  The team was coached by Sheila Sweeney, whose husband coached the College varsity football team, and the assistant coaches were Donna Leitner and Dee Conick, both administrative staff employed at the College.

One would not consider this season to be the best that Dickinson College had.  Their record was 7 wins, 17 loses and 1 tie.  Their season went as follows:
