These are the two leading pitchers of the 1938 Varsity Baseball Team, posing on Biddle Field.  They are John Wright, class of 1939 and W. Dean Fencil, class of 1941 (did not graduate).  Wright was known as "Johnny" Wright, a curve ball "artist."

Their teammates included: Raymond J. Shore,'38,  Outfield;C.B. Hendrickson,'38,  Pitcher;  William H. Hendrickson,'39, Centerfield; Samuel Padjen, '39, Outfield; Clarence S. Shenk, '39, Shortstop;  Harry W. Wilson, '40 Catcher;  Bernard J. Keating, '41, Pitcher; Sidney L. Lipson, '41, Third Base;  William B. Kerfoot, '41,  First Base; Mark G. Kistler, '38,  Manager; and G. Max Stine, '38, Third Base.

Richard H. McAndrews coached the team.  The co-captains were Hendrickson and Stine.  They led the team to a record of 5 wins and 6 loses, with results as follows:

The team opened their home season on Stark Field at the nearby Carlisle Army Post because a new diamond at Biddle was not ready.  Lebanon Valley then helped open the new field, which is still in use today.
