Having outgrown their former
residence, the members of the Sigma Chi fraternity at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsyvania purchased the former
residence of Charles Berg at 41 South College Street for $32,000. This price
included the cost of alterations to the building. Here they resided
until the house was purchased by Dickinson College on June 23, 1964; the
fraternity then moved to Quad
4 (now Baird Hall) in the Fraternity
Quadrangle.
The building became known as the Todd House, so named for
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Todd who donated a $100,000 annuity to the College.
The house served as a residence for women students for ten years before
becoming a coed dormitory in 1974. The Todd House, with its relatively
large capacity, has also housed various fraternities, campus organizations,
and Student Developed Learning Communities over the years.
